Microphone Problems Empty
PostSubject: Enable Voice Chat   Microphone Problems EmptyTue May 05, 2009 9:57 pm

Question

1. Go to the main menu (hit escape in the game or click the computer icon at the bottom)
2. Click SOUND & VOICE
3. On the right-hand side click voice to show the voice menu (weird I know)

In The Voice Menu:

Tick ENABLE VOICE CHAT

Tick ENABLE MICROPHONE

Till we tell you you're to loud slide the MICROPHONE VOLUME up to 100%

MICROPHONE TEST is a good feature - click on Record, speak and then playback to make sure your mic is working

Under VOICE CHAT MODE select Push-To-Talk (means we can't hear anything you don't want us to) and then choose the button you want to use to "push to talk"

Set your SPEAKER VOLUME to 100%

Another good feature is GAME AUDIO FADE which adjusts the game sounds you hear when a player is talking. (I have SOUND set to halfway, MUSIC and AMBIENCE set to zero)

Hope this is helpful...

Hi All, cheers

Here are the instruction to TeamSpeak (dont get put off once you have it all set up it is easy)

The first thing you will need to do is download the latest client version from the http://www.teamspeak.com/?page=downloads.

Download TeamSpeak 2 Client

Once installed onto your PC, double click the icon to start the program.

In order to chat you need to connect to our server.

Open the menu "Connection" (at the top) and press "Connect".

Right click in the white section where it says servers and click add server

Highlight where it now says New Server, an option box should appear on the right hand side, enter in the following info;

Label: Heaven
Server Address: 85.234.131.60:9517
Nickname: "Your WOW Chartacter Name"
Password: hEAVEN

NB: This is case sensitive - otherwise would be a bit easy ;o)

Put a tick in the box next to Auto-Reconnect
Then press connect and you should enter the chat room ^^

Once you are in there make sure under settings --> Sound Input/output you have push to talk selected (will say what button to push or you can set your own) and the output volume is max

And thats it all ready to start chatting

PM me if you have any issues

PostSubject: Teamspeak Quality   Microphone Problems EmptyWed May 06, 2009 11:34 pm

Hi All,

Quick Intro to Codec's: (from Teamspeak website)

A codec is a property that every channel (room) on a server has, it's a technical word that describes what technique is used to compress the voice data before transporting it over the internet. To change the codec of a channel, you right click on it and select 'Edit Channel', there you can set the codec that will be used for all further communication in the selected room. Note: You will probably need administrative priviledges [server admin (SA) or channel admin (CA)] in order to change the codec of a channel.
Codecs are usually a trade-off between bandwidth usage and quality, the bandwidth usage (in KBits/sec) is part of the name of each codec that TeamSpeak offers; following we have ordered codecs by quality. Note that quality can not be measured, so the following is just the opinion of the writer of this text.

Quality: (best quality comes first)

Speex25.9 > Speex19.5 > Speex16.3 > Speex12.3 > GSM16.4 = GSM14.8 > Speex9.3 > Speex7.2 > WinCELP5.2 > Speex5.2 > CELP6.3 = CELP5.1 > Speex3.4

What codec for which internet connection?

DSL/Cable or better
For talking Speex 16.3 is easily good enough, if you want to transmit music, go Speex 25.9.

ISDN
Speex 12.3 sounds alright, limit your download to 14 KBit/s if you want to game. Speex 16.3 with download limit on 17 might also be OK.

Modem
Speex 9.3 is still quite good quality. Limit your download to 10 KBit. Note that if you want to game its way to high a setting, go as low as you can bare (Speex 5.2, or even Speex 3.4, limit your download to 6 respectivly 4).

We are currently using Speex12.3 but we can play around with it afer the teething problems are out of the way

Hi, doh

Here are a few websites that appear to be quite helpful in fixing problem Mics;

Best One So Far:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/266677 good tip about running sndvol32.exe

Others:

http://www.logicaltips.com/LPMArticle.asp?ID=610

http://www.exaq.com/speech/MicTest.html

Also your MIc should not be to close to your speakers cause that also can cause feedback.

Hope this helps
